~ADDENDUM~

Just so you know, all I needed to do was confess to all 8 of my blog readers what a slacker I am. I, in reality, did get out Carter's 18-24 month clothes out of the boxes today. Yay! My baby will no longer walk around wearing man-pris and sweatshirts and looking like an overall fashion disaster and like his mother doesn't love him!

Also, yes, I did mean WALK around. Last night, out of the blue, he started toddling all over the place. *sigh*

Here I am on a Saturday morning, trying to figure out ways to procrastinate and not do my work. Shane's on a film crew for the 48 hour film festival in SLC so I've been trying to keep myself busy. There's one more video file to transcribe, mountains of laundry to fold, a wood floor to sweep, vacuuming and dishes to do, banana bread to bake, counters to clean, and what do I want to do? Think of random things and blog about them. So my procrastination is your bonus! Unless it makes you feel like you want to come do my chores, in which case, COME ON OVER! Party at my house!

The thing about the last baby is you're totally in denial about going up a size. I guess some of this stems from the fact that I have six children and no time, but Carter's summer clothes and all his 18 to 24 month stuff is in a box in his closet. I'm happy to say that I've given it some thought. I'm sad to say, however, that it wasn't enough thought to put the 12 month stuff back in boxes and pull the bigger stuff out of the closet. Consequently, he is wearing tiny onesies (which I don't mind so much since they make him look fatter) and pants that resemble capris, or new summer pajamas just about every day.

The other thing is the denial about diaper size. I just bought a box of Huggies 4s and thought WOW! You could have gone up a size two months ago. Is there such a thing as strangling your kid with diapers that are too small? If so, don't call DCFS. Everything is worked out here.

A few weeks ago we were driving down the street and stopped at a red light. While waiting for the light to turn green a big, bald, quite mean looking biker - complete with tank top, tatoos, dark sunglasses and a black bandana - on an enormous Harley pulled up next to us, getting ready to turn right. Luckily he didn't see my mirth, for in the basket on the back was his dog. Now, most of you know about my tiny toy poodle, who is more of a rat than a dog. Well, this big burly man had a teeny tiny dog in a basket behind him. I mean, the kind of dog Paris Hilton carries around in her purse. The kind of dog that makes a guy not want to date you, just because you like little prissy dogs. This dog was also wearing biker goggles on its head. I AM NOT KIDDING. It was so funny to me at the time that I couldn't stop laughing for 20 minutes. And, being the Curtis that I am, just talking about it makes me chuckle inside once again.

I will probably end up at the chiropractor for the first time next week. For the past week or so I've had a sharp pain in my left shoulder and I'm starting to get headaches more often that usual. When I pop my back I feel better so I guess that means it's a back problem. Make a note: getting old SUCKS. I don't recommend it. Anyway, I have visions of electric shock treatment and torture devices which involve huge rollers and hammers to pound me out. I feel like a five year old. "I don't WANT to!" If I actually get the guts to go, I will let you know how it turns out.

And a recent conversation with Wade:
Me: (in a growly, bossy voice) "WADE! MAKE ME A COOKIE!"
Wade: "NO!" (he super doesn't like to be bossed around)
Me: "Please?"
Wade: "NO!"
A couple of seconds go by while he thinks...
Wade: "Mom, can I make you a cookie?"

Other than that, the kids' summer so far has pretty much consisted of food, chores, food, friends, food, video games, food, sleep, and more food. Wash, rinse, repeat. Mine has been full of gratitude for the awesome weather that makes it so I don't have to pay for my grass to get watered and I don't have to run my swamp cooler 24/7 yet. We've also been re-finishing a desk and getting some of the clutter organized in the office so we can hopefully make it useable again. Once the desk is done I'll take some pictures for you.

I guess I'd better get back to my own crap so I can go out and enjoy some sunshine today. My white legs must think its still December.

LOVES! :)

Recent happenings...

So since it has been two weeks (!) since I updated, I thought I'd write a short little post about life here in the Farr household! If you're my facebook friend some of this will be a recap...

So first (and best!) of all is, we have been hard at work on our wood floor. My brothers and my dad put wood flooring in my sister's house a couple years ago and it took them two days. So I thought, one room, piece of cake... right? WRONG! You see, my sister's wood floor is a floating floor - you put down a moisture barrier and then snap the pieces in place. My floor, on the other hand, is a glue-down hardwood. Oh, THE GLUE. The only thing I even have to say is YUCK. No, that's not the only thing I have to say. It's too icky not to say more.  Honestly, this glue was like pine gum. We'd get it on our fingers and get so sticky we couldn't do anything. We had to scrub the tools constantly. And if you dropped any on the floor, the next morning it was like chewing gum. And the smell invaded my dreams. Anyhow, it is finally done... almost. I still have yet to finish the wood in the entry (since I don't want the kids to walk on it for several hours I need to do it just before bedtime, and I've been too blasted tired in the evening) and we're also going to do the hallway. But I need a break from the disgusting glue. Anyway, I cleaned the floor just for this picture. You're welcome.

Don't look around the corner into my kitchen, mkay?

See the light colored board in the center of the picture?  It's my favorite.

What you don't see in the picture is the open cold air return and the shop vac.  I took the banister down and painted the whole thing black, it's looking gorgeous.  Well, Wade got hold of the screws that hold all the banister posts in place.  Guess where they are now?!?!

So I really feel like the room is coming together.  Next step is new trim around the floor and the doors.  I've got my closet door off (as you can see) and it's outside being painted black.  I'll eventually do the same with my front door.  Sometimes I wish I could get all of this done really quickly, but sometimes I am glad it's only one hard job at a time.  I couldn't take much more than that.

I'm also making some progress on the yard.  Yesterday I had the boys weed the super awful 'flower bed' that's really a bed of weeds, and I weeded the easy one.  I also got some hibiscus bushes and some bulbs planted.  And TODAY!  I must have taken some ambition pills, because I mowed the 4 foot tall grass in the backyard.  It probably took me 2 hours and I had to restart the lawnmower roughly 894 times because the grass kept getting bound up in the blades.  It was a real adventure.  I'm only glad that I only found socks and squirt guns out there and no decaying bodies.

For the long holiday weekend we went to my parents' cabin at Strawberry Reservoir.  As you know from a time before this, all I do at the cabin is lay around and eat treats.  This time was slightly different in that the girls got to spend almost the entire day on Saturday shopping in Park City.  I bought the cutest maxi-dress and the most awesome wedges.  I think I might spend the rest of my life in them.  Of course we had to stop at Mrs. Fields and my sister-in-law wanted to buy this INSANE cookie, so I said I'd split it with her.  I cannot believe I didn't take a picture.  I can't believe I couldn't find a picture on the internet.  It was two white macadamia nut cookies with about 3" of frosting in the center, like an ice cream sandwich but with FROSTING.  We had to squish more than half of the frosting out to even take a bite.  Three bites gave us a bellyache.  The rest of the weekend, of course, was spent laying around and eating treats.  Thanks Mom and Dad!  :o)

So that's what we've been up to lately.  We didn't drop off the face of the earth, luckily.  I need a serious shower now though... I'm still covered in grass and dirt.  *sigh*
